Black History Month for Children: Learning how to make Adinkra patterns

Hello my LEE LEE GEMS!

Last month I did a project to honor Black History Month. The children at my art program created African patterns and Adinkra symbols on cloth with paint by using q-tips. I provided only primary color paint so they can create their own colors. This helps the children to learn how to mix colors on their own and helps them to be creative when they are designing their fabric cloth. The children had a great time painting on blank fabric.
They also glued some African pattern fabric on to their fabric that they made to give their creation a nice finishing touch. This lesson teaches them about another culture, how people use their creativity to create a product that people use everyday and learning how to think outside of the box.
