Creative Topic: What to do on a Rainy Day

It’s raining, it’s boring, and the old man is snoring… I use to say that when I was a kid when it was raining outside.  I was a “Uniquely Different” kind of kid.  I use to love it when it rain when I was at home or at school. Especially at school because I could play with my dolls quietly, read books, played Home Shopping Network with my friends with props. At home I use to play camping or just watch movies with popcorn and hot chocolate.  Now I am an adult and I always wrote things what I could do on a rainy day if I wanted to stay in the house.

Here are 10 things you can do if you want to stay in on a rainy day.

1.     Watch a Movie: Very cliché but a great one! Put on a classic movie like Casa Blanca, Dorothy Dandridge movies , Audrey Hepburn movies, classic Disney movies, Sex and the City movie 1 and 2 and the TV series is always a plus, etc. Pop some popcorn and put some peanut M and M’s inside the bowl and mix it with the popcorn. Eat, Relax and Watch!!!

2.     Read a Book: There is nothing like reading an actual book instead of e-books. It’s the aesthetic of reading a book. Getting comfortable in your comfortable chair/ couch or bed, opening up your favorite book and drinking hot chamomile tea with warm oatmeal cookies. Well, that’s what I do. But you can also try to find a book that you never read and explore through it. Love reading a book and using my imagination.

3.     Listen to Music: Another cliché, but another great one! Listening to music is great to do. Especially when you create a playlist for yourself. I do this all the time while I am sketching in my sketchpad or reading a magazine.

4.     Bake Cookies: I always make sure that I have ingredients to bake cookies. Its relaxing and there is nothing like baking cookies on a rainy day to brighten you up on the inside.

5.     Color coordinate your closet: Rearrange your closet by putting your clothes in ROY G BIV (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet) and Black and White perspective. Start from left to right. You can find your clothes better.

6.     Give yourself a Mani and Pedi: Giving yourself a manicure and pedicure is fun to do.  Paint your nails in fun colors and designs.

7.     Take a hot bath:  Taking a hot bath is relaxing. I use lavender and baby oil in my bathwater. I also use candles and aroma scents to give a bath a relaxing atmosphere.

8.     Express by writing: Take time to write. Write about your life, your goals, or a poem. Express how you feel. Writing is therapeutic and if you have a creative idea, start writing and make it plain, like the GOOD BOOK says.

9.     Invest in some air harden clay: Buy some air harden clay at a store where they sell strictly art supplies for artists. If you live in Cleveland, Ohio, you can go to Utrecht on Coventry.  Play with the clay by making beads, a sculpture, a soap dish, etc. It’s therapeutic and relaxing. It’s a hobby that you can do it anytime.

10.  Design a T-shirt: You can find an old T- shirt and get some scissors and cut out some cute designs. Cut around the neck to make it off the shoulder look. You can also fold the shirt on the side and cut a heart or a diamond.  Its fun and it will keep you busy and creative.
